Caribbean Low Season Signals Even Lower Prices
(April 12) Low season in the Caribbean signals great fun at a low price.Mid-April kicks off the beginning of the Caribbean’s low season. Low season extends through mid-December, when prices once again rally.
With many special offers and all-inclusive vacation packages on the market, travelers should look for the deal with the greatest value.
In Anguilla, hotel rates may drop forty percent or more during low season. Cut costs even more by flying to St. Maarten instead of flying direct to Anguilla and take an $18 taxi transfer from the airport. Also, consider accommodations with a kitchenette to avoid the cost of pricey restaurants.
Barbados can be affordable for travelers at various budget points. Find good beaches, moderately priced dining venues and night entertainment along the 2-mile, St. Lawrence Gap. Instead of renting a car, travel like the locals – either by foot or via public transportation. A bus ride is only seventy-five cents per trip. Additionally, travelers during low season can use a free Barbados Gourmet Card for a twenty-five percent discount at more than twenty restaurants.
Even vacationing to St. Barts can be planned for the budget conscious. Walk the beaches and into town rather than renting a car. Also, consider sharing a villa with a group and cut the cost of resort fees.
