Carnival Cruise Lines Celebrate Queen Conch On Grand Turk

(June 14) This past week, Carnival Cruise Lines eco-friendly attraction, Conch World, welcomed its first guests.

Carnival’s The Grand Turk Cruise Center partnered with Cockburn Village & Farm, Ltd., to build Conch World.  Of Conch World, Graham Davis of Carnival Cruise Lines said, “In addition to serving as an example of responsible, sustainable tourism development, Conch World will have tangible economic benefits, including creating numerous job opportunities for the local community.”

The four-year and million-dollar-plus project is the second tourist facility in the world devoted to the Queen Conch.  The Queen Conch is a snail that is important to the health and sustainability of coral reefs.  It provides food for sharks, turtles, lobsters and other sea creatures.

Conch World offers guided tours, photo opportunities with the trained conchs Sally and Jerry and delicious cuisine at the Bare Naked Conch Café.

Official grand opening festivities are scheduled to take place in fall.
