Celebrities Travolta, Clooney, Lady Gaga Show Their Support for Haiti
(January 18) The international community, including Hollywood A-listers, John Travolta, George Clooney and Lady Gaga are rallying efforts to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.
Actor and pilot, John Travolta, arranged a plane to fly aid to Haitians. Says Travola, “I have arranged for a plane to take down some volunteer ministers and some supplies and some medics.”
George Clooney has organized the Hope for Haiti TV fundraising event, which he will co-host with Haitian born Wyclef Jean on January 22nd. The event will feature more than 40 participating celebrities, including performances by Bono, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys.
Lady Gaga shows her support by selling Lady Gaga Haiti relief t-shirts on her website. The artist also announced on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” that all proceeds from her January 24th show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City will be donated towards Haitian relief efforts.
Many other celebrities are showing their philanthropic spirit. At the Golden Globes, stars paired designer outfits with ribbons for Haitian relief and speakers Maggie Gyllenhaal, Penelope Cruze and others reminded the audience of the humanitarian cause.
